Patterson is famous for this e-mail flaming managers for employee work habits, now a prominent example used when discussing e-mail netiquette. For this assignment, assume that you are Vice President in charge of Corporate Communication of Cerner and that you are the person to whom Patterson sometimes turns for advice. Imagine that this e-mail has NOT gone out yet, but that Neal Patterson has sent you a copy that he intends to send out, and has asked you for your opinion of the e-mail. It is your job as to respond in an e-mail to him. You know that Neal Patterson is angry and volatile right now, so you have to be tactful, but at the same time, you also realize that the company’s reputation and stability might be threatened if your CEO does indeed send this message out in its current form. Write a response to him in which you suggest improvements to this e-mail. You need to be specific, not vague, so that he takes your suggestions seriously.
I am looking for three primary items:
1. How well do you impart the importance to Neal of not sending out that email
2. Do you provide easy to follow and constructive comments on how to revise/rewrite the email
3. Can you provide a rationale for why you chose the approach you used in corresponding with Neal
This assignment is worth 10 points and should be completed by the date stipulated in the syllabus. This should be e-mailed to me with a subject line that reads: “Patterson email assignment.”

I have gone over the top. I have been making this point for over one year.
We are getting less than 40 hours of work from a large number of our KC-based EMPLOYEES. The parking lot is sparsely used at 8AM; likewise at 5PM. As managers — you either do not know what your EMPLOYEES are doing; or YOU do not CARE. You have created expectations on the work effort which allowed this to happen inside Cerner, creating a very unhealthy environment. In either case, you have a problem and you will fix it or I will replace you.
NEVER in my career have I allowed a team which worked for me to think they had a 40 hour job. I have allowed YOU to create a culture which is permitting this. NO LONGER.
At the end of next week, I am plan to implement the following:
1. Closing of Associate Center to EMPLOYEES from 7:30AM to 6:30PM.
2. Implementing a hiring freeze for all KC based positions. It will require Cabinet approval to hire someone into a KC based team. I chair our Cabinet.
3. Implementing a time clock system, requiring EMPLOYEES to ‘punch in’ and ‘punch out’ to work. Any unapproved absences will be charged to the EMPLOYEES vacation.
4. We passed a Stock Purchase Program, allowing for the EMPLOYEE to purchase Cerner stock at a 15% discount, at Friday’s BOD meeting. Hell will freeze over before this CEO implements ANOTHER EMPLOYEE benefit in this Culture.
5. Implement a 5% reduction of staff in KC.
Click here to have a similar paper done for you by one of our writers within the set deadline at a discounted
6. I am tabling the promotions until I am convinced that the ones being promoted are the solution, not the problem. If you are the problem, pack you bags.
I think this parental type action SUCKS. However, what you are doing, as managers, with this company makes me SICK. It makes sick to have to write this directive.
I know I am painting with a broad brush and the majority of the KC based associates are hard working, committed to Cerner success and committed to transforming health care. I know the parking lot is not a great measurement for ‘effort’. I know that ‘results’ is what counts, not ‘effort’. But I am through with the debate.
We have a big vision. It will require a big effort. Too many in KC are not making the effort.
I want to hear from you. If you think I am wrong with any of this, please state your case. If you have some ideas on how to fix this problem, let me hear those. I am very curious how you think we got here. If you know team members who are the problem, let me know. Please include (copy) Kynda in all of your replies.
I STRONGLY suggest that you call some 7AM, 6PM and Saturday AM team meetings with the
EMPLOYEES who work directly for you. Discuss this serious issue with your team. I suggest that you call your first meeting — tonight. Something is going to change.
I am giving you two weeks to fix this. My measurement will be the parking lot: it should be substantially full at 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM. The pizza man should show up at 7:30 PM to feed the starving teams working late. The lot should be half full on Saturday mornings. We have a lot of work to do. If you do not have enough to keep your teams busy, let me know immediately.
Folks this is a management problem, not an EMPLOYEE problem. Congratulations, you are management. You have the responsibility for our EMPLOYEES. I will hold you accountable. You have allowed this to get to this state. You have two weeks. Tick, tock.

Analyze The Canterbury Tales and identify and discuss the relationships between the various storytellers and stories

Do you want a similar Paper? Click Here To Get It From Our Writing Experts At A Reasonable Price.
For your second essay you are going to analyze The Canterbury Tales and identify and discuss the relationships between the various storytellers and stories.  Compare and contrast the societal values / morality being promoted in each prologue and story set.  What are the main values being promoted in each work?  Are the same values being promoted in each or are different values being promoted?  How is the presentation of these values similar and different?  For this essay, discuss at least two sets of stories and prologues.  Choose between the Miller and his tale, the Pardoner and his tale, and the Wife of Bath and her tale.  In evaluating each story, be sure to consider what we know about the person telling the story; for example, in discussing the point Chaucer is making, don’t divorce the Pardoner’s story from the Pardoner, himself.
Explanation of the Topic
  1. A societal value is a principle or quality that most people in a particular culture agree to be of great importance.  Examples of American societal values today (NOT necessarily held in medieval England) might include individual human rights, democratic election of government leaders and representatives, financial prosperity, higher education, home ownership, and close family relationships.
  1. A single word—such as love, religion, government, or money—is usually not specific enough to identify a societal value.  Clearly label and define each value you discuss.
  1. A literary work may reveal a societal value either positively (by approving something that is deemed good) or negatively (by disapproving something that is deemed bad).  In the latter case, the societal value is the opposite of whatever is disapproved.  For example, if a work ridicules treason (betrayal of one’s country), then it may be demonstrating the societal value of patriotism (loyalty to one’s country).

  1. A work’s references to a particular custom, topic, or theme (such as to seduction in Sir Gawain and “The Miller’s Tale”) do NOT necessarily indicate that this is a societal value.  Clearly explain how the work shows a quality or principle to be a societal value.

In the External Factors column, list at least six opportunities you saw in the company you researched

Do you want a similar Paper? Click Here To Get It From Our Writing Experts At A Reasonable Price.

Paper Number 1. Based on your unit reading, create a SWOT analysis for the company you chose to research. Your analysis should be between one to two pages and identify the company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Use Microsoft Word and create four sections to your paper using the SWOT categories as your headings. Each category should have approximately 200-300 words describing the issues that fall under that area. The opportunities and threats should have at least ten items identified for each. Format your SWOT Analysis using APA Style. Use your own words, and include citations and references as needed to avoid plagiarism.

Paper Number 2. Using the information gathered from your SWOT analysis conducted in Unit II, create an EFAS table for the company you researched. Use Microsoft word to create your table. It should have five columns. The first column heading should be entitled External Factors, the second column should be titled Weight, the third column should be titled Rating, the fourth column should be titled Weighted Score, and the fifth column should be titled Comments. (Refer to pages 126-127 in your textbook for an example.)

1. In the External Factors column, list at least six opportunities you saw in the company you researched. Underneath the opportunities, list at least six threats you saw in the company you researched.

2. In the Weight column, assign an importance factor to each of these issues from 0.0-1.0 (1.0 is most important; 0.0 is least important). These ratings are based on the probable impact on a particular company’s current strategic
position. The higher the weight, the more important the factor to the current and future success of the company. You may not be privy to the exact information for this company, so in some cases you will need to use your best

judgment. (You will justify your weighting in column five.)MBA 5101, Strategic Management and Business Policy 3

3. In the Rating column assign a rating factor from 5.0-1.0 (5.0 is Outstanding; 1.0 is poor). These ratings are based on the company’s response to that particular factor. It is a judgment call on how the company is currently dealing
with each specific factor. Once again, you may need to make an estimate in this area if you are not privy to all of the information. (You will justify your weighting in column five.)

4. In the Weighted Score column, multiply the weight from column 2 by the rating in column 3 to get the factor’s weighted score.

5. In the Comments column explain why a particular factor was selected and how its weight and rating were estimated.

6. At the bottom of column 4 add the weighted scores for the external factors. Is the company doing better or worse than others in the same industry? Complete this answer underneath your table.Format your assignment using APA Style. Use your own words, and include citations and references as needed to avoid plagiarism.

China One Child Policy

All students in GEO 101 are required to complete a research paper on a topic of their choosing in which they apply course concepts to a current issue or event in a non-Western world region. The goal is to provide you with an opportunity to learn more about a specific part of the world and to sharpen your geographic awareness and understanding. Students may select any realm or region outside of Europe and North America (Chapters 2, 4-12 are fair game). They should then think about a theme (human-environmental interaction, population/migration, culture, or geopolitics) and an event that reflects that theme. The next step will be to compile a range of multimedia and text-based sources and conduct research. The final step will be to answer the key questions posed in your paper—drawing on course concepts and terms, applying knowledge, and drawing conclusions.
Basic Requirements:
  • 4-6 pages double-spaced 12 point font (not including title page, notes, bibliography)
  • Standard essay format (including an intro/thesis, body and conclusion). You may tweak this by doing a geography “memo.” I’ll distribute some examples of memos in class.
  • At least 5 sources (Your textbook counts as 1)
  • Chicago style (notes section plus bibliography)
Themes
Here are some issues you might want to explore. These are just suggestions feel free to propose your own!
Human-Environment Interactions
Environmental Laws, Treaties, etc.; State of environment; Changing climate; Water and land issues; Human impacts; Agriculture/food.
Population and/or Migration
Migration patterns; Immigration; Urbanization; Population policies/issues; Refugees
Culture
Cultural Representations/Cultural conflicts; Languages; Religion; Globalization’s effects on culture, etc.
Geopolitics
Governance; Political struggles; Sovereignty movements; Legacies of colonization; Political cooperation with other countries, etc. International Laws
Socio-economic Development
Development Theories; Sustainable development; Industry; Economic change; Impacts of globalization; Inequalities; Status of women/men, minorities, etc, Poverty, Trade agreements
Here is a list of resources which should help you identify specific issues that deal with one of these themes:
BBC World News (web link in Blackboard)
Country Watch (library database)
Current History (a journal available as a hard copy and online)
Foreign Policy (a journal available as a hard copy and online)
National Geographic (a journal available as a hard copy and online)
Here are some example paper topics. Feel free to use one of them or draw inspiration from them to help you create your own.
A few years ago, a YouTube video of Ardi Riza, a two-year old Indonesian baby, went viral. Why? Ardi was puffing away, blowing rings, with all the mannerisms of a 50 year old chain smoker! This was not an isolated case. Indonesia has a real tobacco fix and even a smoking babies “epidemic.” Develop a research paper in which you explore this cultural phenomenon.
In the last presidential debate, much of the discussion focused on the Middle East. Write a memo to the next president identifying a second region which is critical to America’s national security.
What are the global epicenters for human-trafficking? What kinds of spatial associations can you uncover between these epicenters and variables such as per capita GNI, population density, HDI, and literacy? (You might focus on a more specific issue such as “transplant tourists”)
Geography is a discipline which helps us understand why something which makes sense in one place might not make sense in another place. Drawing on geographic concepts, issues, and terms, evaluate FIFA’s decision to select QATAR as the host of the 2022 world cup.
What has been the role of social media in the democratic revolutions known as the Arab Spring?
Why is Afghanistan so important to the United States strategically?
The paper may take the form of a traditional research paper or may take the form of a “mock memo” written to an influential position of some authority who might benefit from the expert analysis you might provide. The idea for a “geography memo” came from a feature article type from the award-winning magazine Foreign Policy. Try locating some examples of memos from this magazine by using our library databases. Go to Academic OneFile (or one of the general search engines) and do an advanced search. Use “memo” as a keyword and Foreign Policy as the name of the publication.
